Matt Shirvington

Today I'm at one of the many fantastic spots on Sydney's Middle Harbour to meet one of the world's fastest men…

Not only is sprinter Matt Shirvington like greased lightning on the track, he's no slouch on the water either… especially when he's at the helm of a SeaDoo !

Matt really made a name for himself when he clocked a blistering 10:03 seconds for the 100 metres at the 1998 Commonwealth Games… a time which ranked him with the very best, and suddenly made "Shirvo" a household name.

At the Sydney Olympics, sprinting's "great white hope" carried the expectations of a nation on his shoulders…

He didn't make the final, but Matt became one of the top ten sprinters in the world.

Matt's athletic looks mean he's already made his mark as a bit of a sex symbol. But the glamour boy image is just icing on the cake… Shirvo's holy grail is to break the ten second barrier - and he knows he will.

Talent and raw power alone are not going to be enough. It'll take patience and dedication, a couple of attributes Matt has in spades!

When he's not training, Matt still likes going fast - on the water.

As a born and bred Sydney boy, his favourite escapes are the national parks and waterways around Middle Harbour and Pittwater.
