Nacra 5.0 Catamaran Sailing

I'm not much of a sailor - in fact, I've never sailed before. So today should be a bit of fun, as I prepare to head into the bay on a new catamaran - the Nacra 5.0…

Mick from Brisbane Catamaran Centre is my skipper, and as I'm a total novice he runs through some of the basics before we hit the water…

Well, the wind's blowing, I have my safety gear on, and I've been promised some thrills from Captain Mick… so let's get this baby in the water…

The Nacra 5.0 is billed as a high performance sailing craft, and as we cut through the choppy waters at about 25 knots, I definitely have no arguments… It flies!

If the mood takes you, you can simply slacken the lines, and gently cruise around with up to 5 people on board.

This cat is also built for comfort. Even for a novice like me, this is easy sailing… no boom and no board make for simple and safe boating.

But… simple and safe are just not my style, I'm having a blast, pounding into the waves… the wind in my hair… the spray of the ocean… what a hoot!

A big spill could spoil the day… or worse… with other craft. But the Nacra 5.0 is righted in no time and we're back on our way… a bit wetter for the experience, but otherwise unharmed…

Including the trailer, these nifty beach rollers and everything you need to get onto the water, the Nacra 5.0 will cost you $13 800.

If you're looking for a craft versatile enough to race on the edge one day, then quietly cruise with friends the next, this cat might be right up your alley.
