O'Reilly's 4WD
We're at O'Reilly's
Guesthouse in the heart of the Lamington National Park.
The staff said,
"Cliff, why don't you try something gentle just so you could
move into the mood." Yeah, right!
Well, we made
our way up to Lamington National Park via dairy fields and dirt
roads.
This is the
Duck Creek road and as the name suggests - it's full of character
and characters.
Locals and visitors
have actually paid to have their names on these road signs.
The money raised
goes into improving the road.
Mmm
maybe
we should have "watch out for the Cliff".
The closer we
get to the top of the Darlington Ranges, the better the view.
And our surroundings change from eucalypt to lush rainforest.
Just to give
an idea of size of trees nature has on display at O'Reillys have
a look at this beauty now we're gonna check out the treetop walk.
They promised
me a birds eye view up here and they're right - we're suspended
15 m above the rainforest floor and these are treetops - it's
just amazing.
The wealth of
wildlife is what makes O'Reilly's special, so its hard to believe
it all began as a dairy farm.
The O'Reilly
family settled here in 1911..but soon realised they preferred
torist dollar over farming.
These days,
the guesthouse has everything from luxury accommodation to a
sensational restaurant where you can check out everyone else's
meal.Or even join in.
How's this for
a bird aviary. No cages. Birds are free to do as they please
as you can see.
O'Reilly's Rainforest
Guesthouse offers a great range of accommodation choices - and
has a two night package in a garden room including tours and
some meals for $246 per person.
Phone O'Reilly's
or visit their website for details and info on the magnificent
Lamington National Park.
